CensusPlus

3 - Connection Can't Keep Up With CensusPlus

Greetings! I'd like to toss a unique error and possibly solution your way that is entirely related to people with poor internet connections. You see, when I play World of Warcraft, I generally have a ping upwards of 1,200. This causes CensusPlus to act unusual:

- I run a census.
- I wait for the census to signal its finish.
- After it's finished, the /who window pops up afterward with the normal search code and numbers as if it were still taking a census, though CensusPlus won't update further.

Apparently, given that a /who search takes around 1.5 seconds on my poor connection, the 3 second delay between searches that CensusPlus has causes World of Warcraft to not respond to searches quite often. Why? I'm not sure. I just know that under an optimal connection (300-500 ping?), it works perfectly. I'm also not sure why CensusPlus claims to have stopped, but ends up continuing the searches regardless... That part boggles me.

Anyway, my suggestion is this: How about implementing a "/censusplus delay" command? What this would do is allow users to manually set their search inquery delay. In my case, I think 10 seconds between searches, or even 5 seconds, would drastically help matters. Not everyone wants to manually mess with a LUA file, so a command to allow a custom amount of delay between searches would be perfect.

Thank you for reading. Cheers, Rollie!

Edit: Changing the delay in the LUA file from 5 to 10 seconds fixed everything! No more random /who windows popping up, no more missed data!
