ChatSync

ChatScreen Main

I wanted a simple Chat mod that had several of the features that Prat had, without all the modules or additions that Prat comes with.

Basically I implemented the Chat features that mostly everyone enjoys and uses. This mod is extremely small and simple but gives you the following abilities.

USE: /chatsync or /cs to access the menu!

ChatSync Features:

  • Show player level next to their name in messages.
  • Show player level by difficulty color in messages.
  • Color player names by their class.
  • Ability to attach alts to players and have it display next to their name when they send messages.
  • Display a timestamp next to messages.
  • Enable sticky channels so the chat frame remembers the last channel you used.
  • Show the Chat Input Box on the top of the Chat Frame instead of the bottom.
  • Allow clickable url links to be shown in the Chat Frame.
  • Hide Chat menu buttons.
  • Hide Chat scroll buttons.
  • Store player names by player faction only.
  • Use CTRL to scroll faster in the chatbox, or holt ALT to scroll to the top/bottom.
  • Options to use H:M:S or H:M timestamp.
  • Option to remove the Editbox background from chat frame.

    • Alt Names:
  • To add an alt type: /chatsync addalt altname=mainname
  • To remove an alt type: /chatsync remalt altname
  • To list all alts type: /chatsync listalt

Config Screen:
-To access the configuration screen for ChatSync type: /chatsync config

How ChatSync grabs the user information:
Player data including their class and level is grabbed and stored locally. This can be done through several ways (All of which are automatic!). The data will be retrieved from your friends list, guild list, player leveling, raid roster update, party members joining/leaving, clicking on a player, mouse over a player, and finally using the /who command.

If a player in chat does not have their class color or level, simply SHIFT+LEFT-CLICK their name to do a /who search. That will automatically update the database for the next time that player sends a message.
