Diplomancer

Description

Diplomancer is a simple addon that automatically watches the faction associated with your current location.

For example, while you're in Dalaran, you'll watch the Kirin Tor. Fly down to Dragonblight, and you'll watch The Wyrmrest Accord. If you're a member of the Horde, visiting Orgrim's Hammer will switch your watched faction to the Warsong Offensive, while stopping by Venomspite will watch The Hand of Vengeance. Likewise, members of the Alliance will watch the appropriate factions for their towns.

Diplomancer is fully versed in the factions of Wrath of the Lich King, the Burning Crusade, and the original World of Warcraft. Please note that Northrend data for Alliance factions may be incomplete, as I do not play any Alliance characters and cannot playtest this data myself.

Configuration

Diplomancer does not require any setup, and works "out of the box". It does have a few options, which can be found in the Blizzard interface options window, or by typing /diplomancer (or /dm for short).

Default faction is the faction you will watch when your current location doesn't have an associated zone. By default, this is your race's faction, so if, for example, you are a troll taking a weekend camping trip in the Redridge Mountains, you'll watch the Darkspear Trolls faction. Select another faction from the dropdown list to watch it instead in this situation.

Ignore exalted factions will cause Diplomancer to not watch any factions with whom you already have exalted standing.

Enable notifications will print a text message to your chat frame whenever Diplomancer changes your watched faction.

Localization

Diplomancer is currently functional in English, German, and Simplified Chinese locales. If you play in a supported non-English locale, you will need to additionally download LibBabble-Faction-3.0, LibBabble-Race-3.0, and LibBabble-Zone-3.0 to provide translations for faction, race, and zone names respectively.

While the addon could theoretically run in other locales with reduced functionality, I have opted insead to disable the addon for locales without full functionality.

If you play in a French, Spanish, Russian, Korean, or Traditional Chinese locale and are willing to help gather translations for around 90 subzone names, please send me a PM or email message!
