What is DispelBorder?
This addon places a highlighted border around various buffs and debuffs on the target frame that your class is able to dispel.
What does it look like?
For buffs, it uses the same border that is used by the default UI to show which spells a mage can spellsteal.
For debuffs, it uses the standard debuff border that is used by the default UI to show a specific color border for different types of debuffs. This does not stand out as much as the spellstealable border, but it fits in much better with this addon's design of utilizing the standard UI elements.
Please look at the screenshots below for a better idea.
What features does it have?
There are separate options for:
- showing borders around dispellable buffs on enemies
- enlarging these dispellable buffs on enemies (this is disabled by default)
- showing borders around dispellable debuffs on friendly targets (this is disabled by default)
- enlarging these dispellable debuffs on friends
- choosing the border color for these dispellable debuffs on friends (this is white by default)
- enlarging spellstealable buffs on enemies (this is disabled by default)
What classes can dispel what?
- Priests, shamans, warriors, warlocks, and hunters can dispel magic buffs from enemies.
- Hunters and rogues can dispel enrage buffs from enemies.
- Paladins, priests, and warlocks can dispel magic debuffs from friends.
- Paladins, shamans, and druids can dispel poison debuffs from friends.
- Paladins, priests, and shamans can dispel disease debuffs from friends.
- Druids, mages, and talented shamans¹ can dispel curse debuffs from friends.
- Mages can spellsteal most, but not all, magic buffs from enemies. Their ability to remove magic buffs from enemies is ignored in DispelBorder as the border functionality for spellstealing already exists (which is the basis of DispelBorder).
¹ Restoration shamans can talent into "Cleanse Spirit" which attempts to remove 1 poison effect, 1 disease effect, and 1 curse effect from a friendly target. DispelBorder checks to see if a shaman has this talent when considering what debuffs to highlight.
Support for unitframe addons (like X-Perl, as opposed to the default UI):
- If the unitframe addon denotes spellstealable buffs somehow, it should do the same for all dispellable enemy buffs.
- If the unitframe addon differentiates between spells cast by you and others, it should show "enlarged buffs/debuffs" as being cast by you.
- If the unitframe addon has its own features to display dispellable friendly debuffs on your current target, it is strongly suggested that you disable that feature of DispelBorder as it is likely to break the functionality of the unitframe addon. If the unitframe addon does not have this feature, but does not use the standard UI's colored debuff border, then DispelBorder will simply do nothing. In this case, it is also suggested that you disable that feature of DispelBorder as it may improve efficiency.
