EarToTheGround

ETTG Screenshot 1

Ear To The Ground keeps an ear to the ground for you. I wrote this addon to compensate for the fact that I kept missing people asking for 1 more person to an instance I wanted; by the time I found them again, the group would be full.

Overview

1.) The addon looks at all the channels you are in, as well as /say and /guild. If anyone is 'LFM', the addon will look at what they say to work out which instance they're going to, if it's heroic, 10 or 25 man, and what roles they need.

2.) If the desired roles match what a role you can fill (Tank, Healer, Melee DPS, Ranged DPS) then a message box will appear, telling you who sent the message, the instance type (HC, 10 man normal, 10 man heroic e.t.c.), the instance they are going to, and the role needed. If they need multiple roles that you can fill, 2 message boxes appear, one for each role.

3.) Based on the role you are going to fill, the whisper sent to ask for an invite will contain different information.

  • Tanks: Health, total avoidance, defence rating (not for bears) and armour.
  • Healers: Mana, and +healing
  • For Caster DPS, SP, crit & mana
  • For melee DPS, AP & crit (RAP for hunters)

4.) If an achievement is wanted, the whisper will also contain the necessary achievement if you have. If you don't, but have something similair (e.g you have 10 man naxx and they want 25 man naxx), that will be sent instead.

5.) Slash commands:

  • /ettg on turns the addon on
  • /ettg off turns it off
  • /ettg msg toggles showing of a message box again, after you've clicked no the first time.
  • /ettg afk toggles whether you want to be notified when afk
  • /ettg normal toggles whether you want to be notified about non-heroic 5 mans
  • /ettg heroic toggles whether you want to be notified about heroic 5 mans
  • /ettg raid toggles whether you want to be notified about 10 / 25 man raids.
  • /ettg only XXX allows you to whitelist instances. If you whitelist an instance, you will only be notified about instances in the whitelist, and no others.
  • /ettg ignore XXX allows you to blacklist instances. If you blacklist an instance, you will only be notified about instances not in the blacklist.
  • You cannot have a blacklist and whitelist at the same time - to create a whitelist, you first need to clear your blacklist (if you have one).
  • "/ettg only remove XXX" and "/ettg ignore remove XXX" allow you to remove an instance from the respective lists.
  • Note that XXX is the instance you wish to list.
  • "/ettg only clear" and "/ettg ignore clear" allow you to clear the respective lists

Currently the roles are worked out based on what you are specced for (this includes dual spec). For example, if a druid has a spec where most points are in restoration, they be capable of filling a healer role. If that same druid has a dual spec where most points are in balance (for the off spec), they will also be capable of filling a ranged DPS role.

Because a feral spec could be for DPS or for tanking, the addon looks to see you have 3/3 Survival of the Fittest . If it is, the druid is a tank in that spec.

Note: Death Knight tank detection is now based on whether the player has 10 or more points invested in Toughness, Blade Barrier and Anticipation. (thanks Egrimm)

    Hey,

even though these talents could be used in other situations, I think looking for whether the Anticipation or Blade Barrier talents are present might be a good idea in order to check for DK tanks ;) I myself don't use the glyph you mention but I still tank =)
