Guild Lottery

Main Menu

Description:

This is an addon that lets you set up a guild lottery. The info such as price per ticket the amount of money in the lottery are up to you.

There has been talk about whether or not a Lottery addon is allowed according to blizz EULA, I hope the following link (a blizzard link) will put to rest the debate.

http:us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_US&articleId=27048

TLDR: If it's private, (ie within guild) it's ok, but you cannot advertise for it in public.

Warning:

Blizz does not save session data until you log off, so if you add a bunch of tickets to someone, and your wow crashes, you WILL lose the data.. It's a Blizz Issue I'm afraid, so make sure if you add tickets, don't go 10 hours without logging, just to be safe!

Donations:

Never necessary, always appreciated. Any donations will help me pay for school as I'm a poor college student ;-)

BUGS/REQUESTS AND TODO LIST:

This is still a work in progress, uploads will be coming fast and furious, if you have bugs or requests, please post them at http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/guild-lottery/tickets/

Any bugs or requests not posted there will likely be deleted, as there are too many people who are commenting on stuff that is clearly in there, not trying to be a hardass, just trying to be organized :-)

    @Sparty83: Go

    Basically if they were on when you set up the tickets, OR they logged on at some time afterwards while you were on, it is blue.. Blue represents the fact that the addon has whispered them and given them a 'receipt' of sorts.. Orange means that they were offline when you set them up with tickets, and they haven't been on at the same time as you since :-)

    Hey there, been using this addon for a few weeks now but I have a question.

    The players names are either orange or blue and I was wondering what the colour represents.

    I only ask this as the peoples names in orange are the only winners. Maybe this is just random but I couldn't find anything about what the different colours meant anywhere.

    Many Thanks

    I posted this question/bug on the curse page, but figured since I just donated, I'd post it here.... my guild is hooked on this addon.

    I created a raffle, but made a mistake, so I deleted it. Now when I try to recreate it, it doesn't appear on the calendar. Ive tried disabling/re-enabling, reloading UI, logging out/in, rebooting..... etc.. Note... the original raffle DID post on our calendar, so it worked when the raffle was first created. When I click the raffle tab, the date/prizes are still listed in the fields. So I click new raffle, and select the date, but nothing happens. I cant uninstall/reinstall, because we have a couple lotteries running, and a bunch of people have already bought a lot of tickets, so I don't wanna lose that info.

    As a newly appointed GM, I really want to use this addon a lot. Guildies have a blast with the lottery. Now im trying to raffle off a couple bags filled with pets, and am unable to create the raffle. My guildies keep asking when im gonna announce the raffle.

    Anyway, thx for such a great GM tool! Cant wait to see all the features that get added in the future.

    You cannot remove people as that would screw up the random roll, the only time it currently removes people is when you create a new lottery/raffle via the button.. Eventually you'll be able to remove people but it will take a lot of modification to make the code error check :-)

    I cannot figure out how to remove people from the list of lottery tickets

    I have a few problems with the spam this causes. 7-10 lines of text in guild chat is simply too much. Luckily, I have dabbled in coding and can probably figure this out myself, but others might not be so lucky.

    @tjfraser: Go

    Should be fixed with revision 56 :-)

    As far as the website thing, you can go into interface/addons/glottery/locale and edit enUS.lua just search for website and change the message (do not delete the line completely or it will break, just modify it) :-)

    Im having problems with the lottery spamming ticket buyers with info of the lottery every 45 sec or so. Plus when i spam the guild chat with the lottery it states "visit website for details" i decide not to continue the web page cause no one uses it. I re-downloaded the addon. servers down so ill have to wait and see if that took care of it. I got guild members annoyed by the constant spam.

    French translation completed. This is a really great addon. Good luck for the next.
