HoloFriends (continued)

23 - player in friend list renamed

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. have a friend who renames (quite hard to reproduce...)
2. see HoloFriends behaviour.

What do you see instead?
I see a new player (automatically added by the game) with the right "ingame note" ; this player is "ticked".
the old name still remains in the list, unticked (and not "tickable", because of "player not found" error).

What I expect?
I don't know, something more intuitive...

Oh, I think, I misunderstood you.
You mean, one of your friends let change the name of one of its chars by the Blizz service?
In this case I can not make much, because the name is the only unique identifier of a char in WoW. If it is changed by Blizz service at the server, its like a new char. There is no clear identifier to its former char (name).
During login, HoloFriends will give you a list of vanished and new chars at the in-game friends list. But a clear correlation is not possible in most cases and unsafe in most others. (Many player using more than one addon which make changes to the in-game friends list.). So your intuition is needed.

You add a name to the friends list, but the server converted the name to something different at the in-game friends list.
If HoloFriends found no match during the comparison of the in-game with the HoloFriends list, your typed name is still there, but unchecked, because it is not the same case sensitive typing as at the in-game friends list. At the other side, HoloFriends found a new friend at the in-game friends list and added it to the HoloFriends list, and it is checked.

that's right. It's the same behaviour if I add a playername which doesn't exists.

    old name: Chymère
    new name: Boomerang

Of course I can't add the old name without HoloFriends loaded.

Thanks for the report, but I need more information. What's the name of the player? Can you add the friend to the in-game friends list without HoloFriends loaded? Can you try this, with only HoloFriends loaded, with no other addon? (Are other addons running, which modify the friends list?)

Short explanation, which maybe help to understand the Probelm:
If someone create a new char, the server automaticly change the name to be capitalized. The same, if a char is added to the in-game friends list.
Because, HoloFriends manage its own local friends list, the HoloFriends friends name need to get the same form. So, HoloFriends compare the local names with the in-game friends names, but case independend. If a match is found, the local HoloFriends name should be adjusted to the in-game name.

In your case, if no other addon is responsible for the problem, you found a name, where the server react different as usual.
