HunterHelper
ATTENTION: As of 4/26/2013, I have stopped playing World of Warcraft and do not intend to make any further updates to this addon. If you are interested in taking over its development, please get in touch with me and I'll happily discuss it with you.
It has been an honor serving the Hunter community. May your arrows always hit their targets.
HunterHelper is a lightweight addon that helps you, the talented hunter, by increasing your situational awareness while you're in combat. It is based on the excellent ViperNotify addon, by Angelnorn, and is essentially an extension of that addon, posted with her permission. As of v1.81, this addon is localized in English, Spanish, French and German.
HunterHelper provides the following notifications:
- You have entered combat with no Aspect selected, or your current Aspect is Pack or Cheetah
- You have entered combat without a pet
- Your pet is growling when it shouldn't be, or isn't growling when it SHOULD be
- Your pet is set to Passive or Aggressive, both of which can cause problems in groups
- Your pet is low on health or has died
Each of these warnings can be enabled, disabled, customized and "snoozed" (temporarily suspended for a time).
HunterHelper sits in the background and notifies you in each of these situations by displaying a message to the screen, either as combat text or as a raid-style warning. It is fully customizeable and includes a configuration interface, as well as a variety of console commands (type "/hh" for a list).
See the included "readme.txt" for more information and frequently-asked questions.

KieferSkunk Oct 14, 2010 at 04:56 UTC - 0 likes@wolfmac7: v1.7 does exactly that. v1.72 includes extra bug fixes.

KieferSkunk Jun 22, 2010 at 17:03 UTC - 0 likes@mkcorp:
I'll check out the "Only in Combat" option and see what's wrong with it tonight. I'll also look into what it'll take to get "Disable When Mounted" to apply to vehicles - shouldn't be too difficult.
The pet growling option is mainly to ensure that you're not pulling aggro off the tank in a party or raid situation. It might be a bit more difficult to have it intelligently tell when your group actually has a tank. Do you think I should limit this option to 5-man parties and raids? Or add a party size slider to the option so that you can tell it to warn you when you're in a group of X or more people? (I can more easily tell if there's a tank in the group when it's a dungeon group, since Blizzard gives specific APIs for that.)

mkcorp Jun 22, 2010 at 15:21 UTC - 0 likesand maybe... kinda warnings about pet growling get annoying when grouped and outside instances :-), since sometimes your pet is a tank for example + it may actually does not matter if he growls or not :-)

mkcorp Jun 22, 2010 at 14:15 UTC - 0 likesMe again :-) Yet another bit of an Issue, "Disable when Mounted" should include Vehicles, otherwise you'll get spammed in, lets say Oculus (like I was just now), with Mana and No Pet Warnings :-) Regards

mkcorp Jun 22, 2010 at 13:18 UTC - 0 likesAwesome job mate, till now I had to use two addons to be cowered, ViperNotify and ViperWatch. One thing tho... Seems "Only Notify in Combat" ain't working. Would be great if you could take a look at this. I usually run around with Viper ON when not fighting, and don't wanna be disturbed by warnings then. I know that I can mark "Disable when solo", but then when I go for some solo fighting fun, I wont get warnings at all :-) So again, take a look at that little issue please :-)
