326 - Feature: Quest Tracker enhancements
I wanted to list a few enhancements for the quest tracker that I think would be good. Rather than post 7 tickets, I decided to do it in one. If you prefer I can split it up instead. There's also a few other tracker feature enhancements on the CurseForge site. (I also listed this in the comments on WoWInterface, but it is now 7 pages back, and I figured it would be better to put it here. =) )
Again, all these are just if Santa came from the North Pole and told me I could have all the features I wanted in QH. Obviously, as you know from previous conversations with me on WoWInterface, I'm not leaving QH. And of course, all these should be optional for those who don't want the feature(s).
What is the enhancement in mind? How should it look and feel?
In order of "importance:"
Fixed width for long quest titles or ridiculously long objectives. Wrapping or ellipsis would be good. I am just a little OCD and I hate a random quests invading my viewing area. It's also annoying to me to see the tracker resizing itself all the time. On a similar note, for those with custom UIs, it might even be worthwhile to make the tracker fixed width and height (with resizing options and vertical scrolling) so that we/they can make it fit somewhere. Again it's the slight OCD... =\
Unlimited number of tracked quests, or at least more than 5. Maybe I want to track 25 dailies. Who knows? UberQuest with QH is how I get by this now, but I would love to see this in QH.
An easier way to bring up the QH menu. I know there is a World Map button and a slash command; I'm that lazy. Really. You are sometimes too, don't deny it.
One-click prioritizing. If I want to track a certain quest that isn't the one QH thinks I should be doing first, then I want to be able to click (or modifer+click) it once and BAM! it's tracked. Would be nice if it also updated the TomTom arrow when you prioritize it, but I'm not too picky.
Differentiation of daily/group/solo quests. Colors? Icons? Symbols like $ or *? I don't know, but some visual clue on the tracker would be nice. Custom colors would be nice too. Maybe I want my dailies to be green for all the moolah I make with them. =)
Shift+click to link quests directly from the tracker, or some way to do it. Yes, I know I can click the quest to open it in the quest log then shift+click it. It would just be faster and, as I said, this is a wish list. =)
Quest turn-in NPCs in tooltips on flight points. This is actually pretty nice, especially for leveling, or when you have a few quests that you turn in in radically different places.
Tooltip with the summary of the quest in the tracker, maybe when you hold down a modifier key. My nemesis has this; when you mouseover a little sphere next to the quest, it brings up a tooltip with the summary.
Click to track questgivers. In another quest addon I'm not fond of, you can click this to track the NPC that you turn the quest into, and it will give you an arrow and waypoint (if you have TomTom or Cartographer installed, obviously.) Clearly, this would only be functional if you had one of those addons, but it might be a nice feature.
If I think of anything more, I'll just add it here. Maybe others have ideas too! =) You're awesome Zorba, keep up the great work.

lonadar Feb 12, 2011 at 15:23 UTC - 0 likesAll of these (except the tracking of questgivers) has been moved to the GoogleCode page as tickets #331-338. Questgivers are already tracked. They're just blocked until you've completed the quest.
