A simple to use mod to manage using appropriate (random) mounts in the right places with minimal configuration. Also provides seamless support for Druid's (Swift) Flight Form and Worgen's Running Wild as well as support for using 'bug' mounts in Ahn'Qiraj (40 Man) if available.
On first login (per character), the mod needs to be setup for usage. This is as simple as choosing a hotkey combination to control mounting or dismount when used. Only a single combo is needed as the mod will internally select when to use each type (air, land, sea, bug) and randomize them itself. This key combo can be setup using the box at the bottom of the Spellbook's Mount selection tab. To activate keybinding mode, left-click on the box and then press your desired key combination. Pressing ESCAPE or left-clicking on the box again will lock-in your choice; the box will flash and you'll hear a sound once the key is set. This is all the base configuration that is needed.
Additional configuration can be provided by toggling which mounts are available to choose from. This can be done by holding CTRL+ALT and right-clicking on the mount you wish to toggle. If a golden plus mark is in the bottom-left corner of the mount's icon then it can be randomly selected (when appropriate). If not, then the mount will be excluded from selection.
For Druids: Your flight form (should you have it) will be included in the flying mount selection by default and can have its use toggled like any other mount by a new button on the Mounts tab. Additionally, if you are moving when the hotkey is used, you will automatically use (Swift) Flight Form if enabled over any other choices and, if falling your flight form will always be selected regardless of toggled options (as a safety feature!).
For Worgen: Your Running Wild (should you have it) will be included in the ground mount selection by default and can have its use toggled like any other mount by a new button on the mounts tab.
Frequently Asked* Questions
Are there any areas where the mod will not work as expected?
Yes, in one particular case. In Vashj'ir, if you swim to the surface and try to summon a mount without reaching dryland the mod will summon your sea mount (if you have one) and not your flying mod even though it is possible. This is due to there being no way to detect when you are on the surface in Vashj'ir and until that changes, cannot be fixed.
How random is the randomization for mounts?
As random as any pseudo-random computer implementaion can be. To help with this, the mod adds all selected mods of the appropriate type to a list and randomly selects form this list until all mounts have been chosen once. The list is then re-randomized for the next go thus insuring you'll never get the same mount more than twice in a row.
What will happen if I have no flying mounts or the appropriate license to fly in an area?
If you lack flyers or, for example, are in Northrend without Cold Weather Flying, the mod will pull randomly from the ground mount list instead.
Why such a complex key combination for toggling mounts?
This is to avoid conflicting with Blizzard's hotkeys due to building onto the default UI. Unmodified mouse clicks are already used and single modifier (CTRL, ALT or SHIFT) can be chosen by the default UI, but not the particular combination I used.
What key combinations are invalid?
You cannot use a modifier key (CTRL, ALT or SHIT) on its own, nor can you use unmodified left or right mouse buttons or the ESCAPE key.
Why build on the default UI and not create your own?
Two reasons. The first is I think it looked neater and fit in better and secondly, because it was something I hadn't done before so was more interesting to do.
What happens if I untick all my mounts?!?
Then the button does nothing, what else would you expect?! Exception being for flight form capable druids who are currently falling to their doom; they can still mount up as a precaution (not that they deserve it by trying to break the mod...).
