311 - Clipboard Parse Error
For the past few versions of SAA I have been getting a clipboard parse error when attempting to export to EnhSim. Specifically, I get the message:
Unknown configuration option: "improved fire_nova" in config file. Please load the default config.txt provided in the zip file.
The data imports fine, it seems, with the exception of my armor set bonus and glove enchant (synapse springs).
Now, I see this message every time I attempt an export from SAA to EnhSim even after completely deleting them both and installing fresh versions. I have also taken the liberty of deleting any remnants of SAA configuration in my WTF folder along with the data from the Addons folder. When loading EnhSim I load the default config.txt prior to importing, to make sure the proper base is set for the import.
I ticketed EnhSim about the issue, but was told it's clearly a SAA issue.. so here I am.

Pericles Dec 17, 2011 at 00:28 UTC - 0 likesTry pasting the text into notepad first. Remove the lines you know to be wrong (from error MSG).
Then highlight all the text left in notepad (use CTRL-A as with all Microsoft apps to highlight all the text) then press CTRL-C to copy it to clipboard thus replacing what ShockAndAwe put there.
Then try importing with EnhSim once you know what lines to remove to make it work please report back and I can do a quick fix of the code.
I don't have a WoW account anymore so cannot test it myself soz.

SomeGuyVT Dec 15, 2011 at 01:24 UTC - 0 likesok, here's the deal.. I ticketed EnhSim@codeplex with the import error and all I got was a "it's SAA's fault" reply. That was months ago. Same thing here. It's nobody's fault SAA/EnhSim doesn't work together.. nobody keeps up with things.. and nobody plays enhancement anymore. I can accept that.
I just brought this up here (again) to reiterate that things don't jive. I don't particularly care about the personal life or play habits of the addon developers. I was just curious if this was a known issue or if, perchance, something related to my character was.. I dunno.. broken? If all I were told is "yes, that's what happens - deal with it" I'd be happy.
As per your last reply, Pericles, am I to assume that SAA exports are coded for EnhSim 4.1 but (knowingly) broken currently for 4.3? If so, thank you for making that clear. Perhaps the next time the addon is updated you can disable/remove the export option or amend the export header to reflect that it does not properly work.
Thanks for your time and thank you for the reply.
As for posting the error.. I honestly wouldn't have a clue what to report. The exact message reads: Unknown configuration option: "necrotic_touch" in config file. Please load the default config.txt supplied in the zip file." When 'ok' is clicked, it gives the "Clipboard parse error" message - hence my reporting an error.. both here and on the enhsim.codeplex page.
I do understand that these are parameters no longer in use, and I was only reporting here in hopes of a confirmation of known fault - not a plea for a fix. Don't take it personal.

Pericles Dec 10, 2011 at 19:02 UTC - 0 likesI've said before that the export is UNIQUE to SAA and it doesnt make the slightest bit of difference which other addons you have installed the export code is entirely in SAA. You are not seeing an error!!! What you are seeing is an export with valid values as per EnhSim of 4.1. Since later versions probably have extra parameters and have stopped using other parameters you are getting a WARNING about a parameter that is no longer used.
NOTE - this is NOT an ERROR it is simply a WARNING.
Unless someone actually posts an export and says EXACTLY which line is failing it is NEVER going to get fixed, as I never play WoW now and haven't played a Shaman seriously in almost 2 years.

SomeGuyVT Dec 09, 2011 at 16:26 UTC - 0 likesThe new version of SAA is giving me a new clipboard parse error - this time pertaining to "necrotic_touch"... and no, I'm not using a Black Bruise. This time the error is causing problems importing a significant portion of my data into EnhSim. I end up manually inputting my 2nd weapon type/enchant/imbue, set bonuses, meta, glove, trinkets and glyphs...
This happens when using SAA v6.3 and versions 2.6.1 and 2.6.7A of EnhSim.
I have attempted disabling all other addons present and loading SAA by itself, expecting that some other addon was interfering with the export - which is not the case.
Curious if other people are experiencing this issue of if it's just something wrong with me.

Pericles Sep 02, 2011 at 10:51 UTC - 0 likesIt won't make a difference how many times you re install it's never going to change the source code. Thus the extra parameter will always be there. Since it has ZERO effect in EnhSim then it really doesn't matter.

SomeGuyVT Sep 01, 2011 at 16:14 UTC - 0 likesIssue is still prevalent.
To reiterate, I have uninstalled/deleted all traces of both EnhSim and Shock & Awe followed by fresh downloads, temp file wipe, a PC restart, and reinstall of both items.
I log in to WoW with a totally unconfigured SAA and the first/only thing I do is type /saa export. Ctrl+C to copy, exit WoW, load Enhsim (current version: 2.6.0) and attempt the 'copy from clipboard' option. I still get the improved fire_nova error and still have to manually adjust my set bonus and glove enchant.
Been a couple months without a look on this ticket.
