Tell Track

3 - Whisper frame rebuilding/talking instance switching seems broken

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Have someone whisper you while you are in a different tab.
2. Click their now red name with the message count in brackets behind it in the namelist
3. All whispers with that person disappear from the frame, defeating the purpose of the Addon.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Not having the whispers disappear, having the old whispers show up.

What version of the product are you using?
2.2.8

Do you have an error log of what happened?
No.

Please provide any additional information below.
Note: I'm also using the Addon Chatter, but it has never caused cross interaction with the old Tell Track, so it shouldn't cause any problems. :|

Please fix this quickly, it makes the Addon near unusable.

I have found the cause for this bug. This error did previously not show up due to tainting from a third addon hiding it. Sorry for the inconvenience. Should be trivial to fix:

I assume this doesn't happen with old telltrack because it has compatibility code for TTN.

Just tested this with 2.2.12. Still not working. This is not an issue with fading, I switched from talking to one person to another person, their chatlog was NOT rebuilt and thus I didn't know ANYTHING about the conversation I had with them before. Again, to reproduce:

    1. Whisper someone. This can be yourself.
    2. Click their name in the Telltrack list (if you have OnClick: WhisperFirst enabled, click it twice.)
    3. Whisper someone else (NOT YOURSELF AGAIN, a _DIFFERENT_ person.).
    4. Click their name in the Telltrack list (if you have OnClick: WhisperFirst enabled, click it twice.)
    5. Click the person you just talked to in Step 1 (or twice if you have OnClick: WhisperFirst enabled)
    6. The conversation you had with them before switching to the second person is NOT REBUILT, NOT DISPLAYED, NOT SHOWN. This makes Telltrack unusable for conversation tracking. Click the scroll down button does NOT fix this, this is NOT a fading issue, this is simply Telltrack not writing the conversation to the window.

In old Telltrack, Telltrack re-wrote the whole conversation you had into the chat window when you switched the conversation with correct timestamps, and faded the text it had already inserted(i.e. the conversation with the person you talked before the person you are currently talking to was hidden by fading it, the old cached conversation you had with the person you are currently talking to was inserted after it, thus making it possible to see what you said to that person.).

If you removed this behavior, Telltrack has become utterly useless not just for me, but for a lot of people.

    Again:
When switching the person you are talking to in the telltrack list, it should display all of the whispers you already had with that person in that frame.

This is not related to the fading. I am talking about the rebuilding when talking to different people when you switch from talking to one person to another person. Which I also wrote in my original statement if you would care to read it.

Ther is also an optionin chatter to disable fadign for a window btw. so you can fix. I tried weeks ago tofind a command or function to unfade a window on demand but its all so wrapped up in the blizz onupdate call

I jsut installed chatter and tried it whispering myself. It shows fine. Infact im really happy hwo well the hooks i rewrote are working considering how much customization chatter does. Smooth as silk. I did two messages looking at them right now behind this window, clicked on my name in list and all.

    sag_i_not tell me whats wrong...

If its been a while since you have looked in the window thats the whisper window then they have faded out as a part fo the blizz chat functionallity same as any other chat window. I almost made a work around for that and decided that it allowed you to see the new messages same as any other chat. It is annoyign if its the same thing. I'll look and see if its not.

I have "always" hated the fading using tell track. Drove me nuts. It prints the whispers immediatly to the chat window that you cant see because you have another chat window selected. The blizz fade code which i have poured over alot stil does the timed fade. I thikn i can turn off the fading all togeteher.

If this is the same problem you have to hit scroll to bottom button same as any other chat to see the windows again. It should only clear the chat window when its about to redraw it which is only does if you change an option like timestamps. So its nto me clearing it if it got cleared, they might jsut be faded
