Tidy Plates: Threat Plates

53 - ArenaID option

I would like to propose the implementation of a feature longed for by Arena players.

Every Arena enemy player has his own UnitID (arena1, arena2, arena3, etc). The idea is to show the digit of this UnitID (1, 2, 3, etc) on the nameplates of enemy players. This feature would make the use of Arena1/2/3 macros (which every serious player use) really easy, because you would see directly the "number" assigned to every enemy.

    @Spyro_: Go

    I've actually already looked at your code and have suggested a widget for tidy plates:

    I'll probably do some easy preset names to test on.

    @suicidalkatt: Go

    Thanks for accepting the ticket. I'm sure are Tidy Plates: Threat Plates users who play Arenas will be happy once this feature is implemented. If you want you can check out my implementation of this feature for Blizzard's nameplates (my code is very clean, commented and easy to read).

    I also would like to show you the workaround Pixol did on the UniqueIconWidget to have the ArenaID feature on Tidy Plates: Threat Plates (he called it "Arena123Widget"). I tested it a couple of years ago and it worked flawlessly (I played a lot of matches with it), and he did it by only adding a few lines to the widget and a couple of textures (although it would be much better to have configurable FontStrings instead of number textures).

    I think the simplest way to do the testing it's in 2v2 Real-ID wargames with multiboxed characters, although I don't have more accounts to multibox, but I can get people to help. When I coded ArenaPlates I did the testing using the "target" UnitID as if it were "arena1" and "focus" as "arena2", that way I was able to test it outside arenas, just on Stormwind using friendly nameplates.

    Once you have a working version that works outside that puts a "1" on the nameplate of your target and a "2" on the nameplate of your focus, you can change it to work with arena UnitID's (arena1, arena2... arena5) and then I could get people from my guild that use Tidy Plates: Threat Plates to test it in WarGames.

    I currently don't play in the competitive scene or have a character that's arena ready. Being able to test a new widget for this feature will be difficult to accomplish.

    If you can assemble a small group of people to 3v3 with me to test the widget I can begin work on this.
