TriviaAnswers

When near someone using the TriviaBot mod this will automatically answer the questions being asked.

Configurable options for how long to delay the response as well as a mechanism to switch to lower case or add spelling errors.

The mod does not work if the person using the TriviaBot mod is polite and using a private channel. It will only auto answer questions posed in say, guild, party or raid.

    @Dridzt: Go

    Looking at it more no idea why I added Guild in as you're right, that's generally a moderated channel. Raid/party was probably just a bad experience in a pug (suspect I was in a LFD with some jerk spamming it for fun and didn't want to requeue so added that channel). /say however is definitely a spammy place. Especially as the people who use it generally do so intentionally in a busy area for the channel. The good news is using this mod has caused some of them to leave for less populated areas than the acution house.

    I'll put a patch in this weekend to remove Guild as if you're in the type of Guild that allows this you're either OK with it or should be leaving anyways. Party/Raid I'm a bit hazy on given the amount of griefers I've seen. The group can always ignore the person with the mod - its usually pretty obvious what it's doing.

    As for breaking it I'm sure you can. And I'd be able to fix it. I've been on both sides of this in other projects and it just leads to a big waste of time for everyone. However I suspect you'll have more time and incentive to keep changing it as I only ever really bother with the mod when I get spammed so it could easily go broken for a long time (look at the patch history and you'll see this).

    But I'm glad you like Timers :) I've become quite fond of it and really need to fix the little bugs in it rather than worrying about spam (mage mana gems don't work right :( )

    TriviaAnswers is predominantly used as a "cheat" not as a TriviaBot "spam"-deterrent.

    I can definitely sympathize with players that have to "suffer" Trivia in "general" or "trade".
    (If the addon allows public channels to be selected then this is old / buggy code not by design and will be corrected in the next version.)

    However "Guild" and "Raid" are most definitely moderated chat channels and the guild / raid leadership has ample options to take disciplinary action and prevent Trivia being played (unlike global channels)
    Simply put if Trivia is being used as a pass-time in guild / officer / raid we have to assume that the guild or raid leadership is "ok" with it and your tool is nothing but a way to cheat and spoil the fun in an accepted game.

    Finally /say is imo a "grey area".
    It shares some characteristics with global channels in the sense that it's un-moderated but this is somewhat mitigated by it being a very short - range chat.
    I'll give that there are in-game hotspots (like the AH, banks, mailbox, inn etc) where "get out of earshot" is not always an option if someone is playing trivia and you're bothered by it.

    In short:

    • Custom Channel, Guild, Raid, Officer = most definitely ok
      (participation is voluntary or allowed by guild/raid rules)
    • Global Channels (trade/general/defense etc) or /yell = most definitely not ok
    • /say = unsure
      (would welcome ideas on how to limit usage around hotspots but reluctant to remove the channel as there's also valid uses - have had alot of fun with friends sitting around a camp-fire and playing)

    Judging by number of downloads a very small % of players are interested in cheating TriviaBot but if it gets to be a problem we'll simply break TriviaAnswers.
    At this point the discussion is mostly academic.

    Best regards and good luck with your other addons :)
    (I'm a happy user of Timers on some of my toons).

    @Ziz: Go

    Until the TriviaBot mod avoids using public channels, this mod will continue to be maintained to respond in public channels.

    Triviabot not recommend the addon Triviabotanswers. It helps to destroy the party spirit. The ability to join together in moments and play fair question game. Moreover, it is "Cheating"!

    We are not clear about the work, but we give a warning that one must use Triviabot without cheating and fraud! Use your brain or WoWPedia

    Cheers Triviabot Team
