UncleFester

By Badgerlord <Untamed> EU Nagrand

This Addon aims to help with raid communication during the Festergut encounter in Icecrown Citadel. In particular this addon helps to address the problem of multiple spores landing on melee or ranged and will hopefully prevent the need for one dedicated spore spotter to shout madly on vent. The addon will redirect people with spores in these cases, other raid members will need to stack at their assigned position as normal.

  • When gas spores are placed on raid members the addon will try to work out how to route those players to one of three (or 2 for 10 man) stacking points.
  • The routing is designed to reduce overall movement and make sure all three points get a spore. It will not redirect the tank (current aggro holder) away from the melee stacking point.
  • The default stacking points can be adjusted.
  • Only the raid leader or assistant needs to have this addon installed.
  • Announcements are made as a raid warning with clear routing instructions and whispers to raid members with the Gas Spore debuff.
  • Sets raid icons on people with the spore according to where they should run.
  • Automatic detection of 10 / 25 and normal / heroic modes
  • If a raid member has the MoveItMoveIt Addon installed, it will also give them a clear TomTom arrow to follow to the right stacking point if they have a spore on them.

Stacking Points

The default stacking points are as follows:

stacks

alternate view

  • Stack 1: CENTRE, Tank and Melee right in the centre of the room
  • Stack 2: RANGED ONE, This is almost directly in front of the door, and denoted by a large triangle.
  • Stack 3: RANGED TWO, This is the next large triangle to the right of the first.

In 10 man the addon will only look for two spores and will only direct people to two stacking points (CENTRE and RANGED ONE).

Usage

The addon is automatic, it is activated upon entering Icecrown Citadel

  • /unclefester = basic help
  • /unclefester reset = reset stacking coordinates to defaults
  • /unclefester 1 x y = set stacking point 1 coordinates to x,y (coordinate values between 0 and 1)
  • /unclefester 2 x y = set stacking point 2 coordinates to x,y (coordinate values between 0 and 1)
  • /unclefester 3 x y = set stacking point 3 coordinates to x,y (coordinate values between 0 and 1)

Routing

The routing is done as follows:

  • If the tank gets a spore they are automatically assigned to the melee stack.
  • Otherwise, the closest person to the melee stacking point is automatically routed there.
  • The other 2 spores are assigned to ranged stacks one and two by working out the placement with the least overall movement.

Notes

Ideally this Addon is installed only by the Raid Leader or Assistant, as it requires access to raid warnings and to prevent multiple warning spam.

Your raiders should run to their assigned stacking points as normal, this addon is only for directing those with spores.

The worst case scenario currently is for the offtank or both the tank and offtank to get spores.

This addon isn't a cure-all, some raiders seem to enjoy running to the wrong place regardless

Acknowledgements

Thanks to: Desmond, Alagosnu, Kronen, Eveningsky, Iniflet and others for testing the early versions and other members of <Untamed> for putting up with the earlier buggy versions, especially when the early version would send the same person to 2 different spots. Debugging addon code during raids is not fun.

As a note, the language issue can be resolved to work on either faction by substituting "nil" for the language. That will use the default language for your faction (common for allies and orcish for horde). Cheers!

We used this raid last night on festergut 25 and it definitely helped with directing traffic, once we made it horde friendly.

This version (v0.5), does not work for horde out of the box, as all whispers and raid warnings are forced into "common", resulting in an "You don't speak that language" error for the raid assistant running the addon. This is easily changed by substituting "orcish" (all horde speak orcish) for any and all instances of "common" in UncleFester.lua.
