Grapple is currently undergoing a lot of changes due to long inactivity. Stay tuned! Grapple is a tool for real-time monitoring of the performance of players in raids, pugs and battlegrounds for evaluation or simple curiosity. Based on a per-fight or per-session time-span, Grapple collects information about each raider's survivability, activity and focus and displays it in an intuitive and ordered manner.

Player performance is measured against both general mathematical performance principles as well as specific sub-class standards (f.x. various talent builds and roles) and overall raid performance, or in short: Grapple shows how focused and responsive you perform in a fight compared to how you could perform.

The displayed scoreboard also allows for further in-depth analysis of players' performance (or lack thereof) as the fight progresses through a graphical display of the change in performance scores as the fight evolves, as well as a tracking function for players and mobs dying in combat.

Primary features include:

  • Compare your own performance to those of your fellow raiders easily and intuitively.
  • Interactive chronological graphs - See the progression or regression of a players performance during a fight
  • Health and power monitoring - watch as players gain or lose health, mana, rage etc during the course of a fight
  • Focus scores - Shows how efficiently a player is performing the optimal combat rotations and movements for his specific class and build
  • Awareness - Are people aware of the tactics and movements during a fight, or are they just mindless zombies on auto-attack?
  • Survivability scores - Are the players tough-as-nails or do they fall over at the slightest sign of incoming damage
  • Debuff and Damage tabulations - Who stood in the fire for how long? Who got the most stacks of what debuff?
  • Death watcher - See detailed information about who died when and how
  • Threat stability assessment - Are tanks losing aggro? Are healers and dps overnuking?
  • Data export - report your findings to your guild, raid, chat channel or copy to clipboard

I've been down a hellhole of a depression, hence none of my addons or libraries being updated for a month or two now, but, God and time allowing, I'll take a look at it after the whole Christmas show is over and done with.

To answer your second question, a few API changes have been made, but nothing major. The graphs are probably pretty odd looking right now, and the class constants and spell IDs will have to be reworked for the new lvl 85 stuff, but I don't think it'll take that long, once I get to working on it again.

Any updated planned? Has anything changed or can we keep using it with the current patch?

Yeah, the 4.0.x version is coming soon - I just have quite a lot of stuff to update :) with all the new cataclysm changes and such.

Hi, will you update this addon for 4.0.1? Surely, the best addon I’ve ever seen.

Ok... I must be blind, I apologize for being so dumb.

Would you please tell me the meaning of Column Fumbles in the score board? I can not find anything about that in your explanation. For example what dose "06+03" actually mean?

Good Afternoon, would you like to add an option to hide the minimap button? If it's already in, I could find it :) Thanks!

    In reply to Gelund's post:

No, I don't find your questions offensive at all, quite the contrary. I've had quite a few comments about how the math works, and most of the time, all I get is "the math is wrong" from people who are either not willing to elaborate on their thoughts or have not bothered to read up on how the math is performed. I'll admit that the current survivability score is semi-bogus, as it doesn't really change much during a fight, and I'll gladly accept any suggestions you or anyone else may have.

I've set up a forum for Grapple now, and you're more than welcome to post your ideas in there.

I have been trying it out for a couple raids now to find a new way how to evaluate raid performance. I still have some issues to understand some of the math behind it.

Concerning Survivability: Why compare the damage taken in relation to the total hp to the damage taken in average (thats what the Rd / 10N was for I suppose) by a raid member? It seems more reasonable to compare it to the sum of the raid damage in compare to the sum of the raid hp to have a more comparative value (divided by the raid size of course).

Concerning Focus: I have troubles to understand the concept of "player's spell and ability interaction (Ca)". It might be beneficial if you can elaborate some of the terminology you use a bit further.

I hope you find my questions not too offensive. ^^
