Upgrade List

v. 4.1.1

What is Upgrade List?

Upgrade List allows players to store gear sorted by slot and listed in order of priority. This makes it much easier for a player to keep track of wanted items and where they drop. If an item on the player's list drops, Upgrade List informs the player that the item is an upgrade. If the player receives an item on his or her list, Upgrade List can automatically remove it and all items of a lower priority from the list. Upgrade List also has dual-spec support, allowing a player to keep two separate lists of gear simultaneously.

Who Would Use Upgrade List?

  • Hardcore raiders wanting to mix/max everything.
  • Casual raiders that have a hard time simply remembering where their upgrades drop.
  • Avid PvP fans, carefully watching their honor point count, saving for that new upgrade.
  • Leveling players whom often change gear.
  • Players tired of looking over spreadsheets just to check if an item is an upgrade.
  • Adventurers looking to own every recipe available.
  • Anyone that wants to keep track of desired items in game.

Current Features

  • Ability to add, delete, and move items.
  • Ability to choose an item's drop location from several categories including raids, dungeons, reputation rewards, points, tokens, professions, and more.
  • Dual-spec support.
  • An "Other" tab, allowing players to add items that don't fit into any gear slots, like armor tokens.
  • Broker support.
  • Automatic item tracking / removal from list when an upgrade is received.
  • Alert when an upgrade is in the player's loot window or when an upgrade is available for the player to roll on.
  • Item shift-click entry support.
  • Sounds to alert the player of upgrades.
  • Basic Master looter support.
  • Edit notes of items already in Upgrade List.
  • Click events for items in Upgrade List.
  • Information in items' tooltips.
  • Item search.
  • Instances / boss information gathered from in-game encounter journal. As Blizzard updates the encounter journal, Upgrade List dynamically adds the new instances.
  • Dungeon journal frame lets you know which bosses have loot for you. Accessed by clicking on any dungeon in the dungeon journal.
  • Quick reference window in instances that list bosses with gear, found in minimap / broker tooltip.

Known Issues

  • When upgrading from versions prior to 4.0, it's recommended to go into Upgrade List's options and click the Delete ALL Data option in the database options. This will eliminate any potential issues with backwards compatibility.

Not yet, but it's on my list. My guess is because awhile ago, hunter weapons & wands used to be on the ranged slot, but got moved to the main hand slot when the ranged slot was removed. Something from that is what probably broke them.

YAY!!!!!! Thanks for the update. Were you ever able to figure out why you couldn't add any of the hunter weapons and wands

rawr exports them the upgrades this way: http://pastie.org/private/hrtphfqwf98yzzt6jjhjig it says , how much of an upgrade, where you get it, and gives enchants and gems along with it, land the slotid.

all you have to do is link tier-items and their tokens, so if a token drops, inform the player.

You might also notice a player if he is at a vendor and the vendor sells an upgrade, preferrably with a note "you need reputation, baseitem , token, valor , justicepoints, and you have x of them"

    Thanks, glad you like it!

Which locations / bosses are missing? I'm having that data pulled in directly from the encounter journal so if something's missing, it's either not in the encounter journal or I messed something up. Anything pre-Cataclysm won't be in there.

I'd like to add more characters to the notes section. I'm just having trouble fitting everything in a line without making the window ridiculously huge. Maybe if a note is over a certain length, I can have a tooltip pop up when you mouseover it. Just something I still have to think about.

I'd also like some sort of import ability, either from Rawr or Wowhead (I use both). However, I don't know how Rawr or Wowhead work so I don't have any idea how to do this. Once I get some more time and get everything in the addon itself working, I'll look into doing some sort of import function. It won't be anytime soon, though.

Some locations are missing as are various bosses within instances. I do not know how important it is to the program, but some items drop from a boss AND are purchasable with tokens. ATM, this requires multiple entries for the same item.

The notes section could use another 20 characters added.

I agree with yoshimo about an import function from another source such as RAWR. It can be a real PITA if you're poorly geared to enter all those upgrades.

Otherwise, I really like the addon and appreciate all your work.

Some things you might want to think about:

there is the gearcalculator Rawr (rawr.codeplex.com) and it exports upgrade lists to its own addon http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/rawr-official/

maybe you want to add an import function for this.

Also, you might not only warn on loot, but also on raidwarning/raidchat if the leader posts stuff to bid on.

And you might also want to scan vendor windows and warn about that "Vendor sells Upgrade x ( 1650 of 1690 justice points (token, cores, whatever currency) "
